Jerel is the proud husband of Susan and father to Bailey, Christopher, and Luke.  His wife and kids are amazing and he realizes that he is blessed beyond what he deserves.  They are the most important people in his life.

He is a pastor, speaker, and writer who is passionate about the Story of the Gospel being spoken, written, and lived out creatively in our culture.  He loves to help people understand and begin to live in light of the grace of God.  He is passionate about discipleship, life-change, and creativity in the church.  He also really likes wake boarding, golf, Tarheel basketball, chai tea lattes, and The Office.  

He received his BA in history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994.  After 3 years in student ministry at a traditional church in Winston-Salem, NC, Jerel and Susan moved to Charlotte where he went on staff at Mecklenburg Community Church with Dr. Jim White, and began pursuing a masters degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.  He graduated with an MDiv in 2003, and joined forces with Church at Charlotte to plant Connection Church in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina.
